Volunteer River Cleanup Program

Uvalde County has partnered with the HEB/Central Market Keep Texas Waterways Clean Program and Invites Volunteers to Earn Money for Charity by Cleaning the Rivers!

The Texas Hill Country River Region and Uvalde County invite you to participate in a Keep Texas Waterways Clean Volunteer Program. We are looking for groups of over 6 people to sign up to clean a section of the Frio, Nueces, and Sabinal Rivers. Uvalde County will award groups $15 per person, per hour of cleanup, to the charity of their choice.

River Cleanup Days are Sundays at 1:00PM and Tuesdays at 10:00AM during the Summer months, to avoid the large groups of tourists. Groups will meet at a specified location to sign a waiver and be given trash bags, tubes or kayaks, and other supplies as needed. We will provide a place to put the trash you’ve collected. Cleanups can range between 2 hours - 8 hours depending on the section and flow of the river. We will work with you to find a section that accommodates your schedule.

All participants must be at least 14 years of age, be a competent swimmer and sign a waiver form before they participate. Persons under 18 must have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

Discounted rates on lodging are available for volunteer groups, upon availability. Groups are encouraged to take advantage of other local activities: hiking, birding, golfing, biking, dining, Frio Bat flight, live music, etc… Discounts are also available at the Golf Course of Texas for volunteers.
